Training DVD
Designed for use by schools and consultants for In-service training or for individual viewing, our training DVD will help teachers to understand the theory behind the Numicon approach and to see it being used in different classrooms.
‘Working with Numicon’ shows seven different teachers in their usual daily maths teaching with Numicon, they each explain their various ways of using it, how it supports their teaching and how they organise their resources. It illustrates how Numicon can significantly raise children’s confidence, understanding and achievement.
Whilst it is not intended to be a substitute for interactive live training, the DVD aims to inform teachers about Numicon and give them confidence to start using Numicon themselves as they see how other teachers are using it as part of their daily maths teaching.
The 2 hour DVD is in six sections. The first section, ‘Why Numicon?’ introduces the background theory in a conversational straight forward way, avoiding jargon. The following sections show Numicon in use in Foundation, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 classes and for small group learning support.
‘Working with Numicon’ lends itself to viewing over more than one session and comes with suggestions for key discussion points and practical activities to use in staff meetings and training sessions.
