Pride in being poor at maths must be tackled

The National Institute of Adult Continuing Education has called for a cultural shift to the UKs attitude that being bad at maths is something to be proud of, or even a 'badge of honour'.

Research has shown that those with poor maths skills are far more likely to be out of work, or to be stuck in low-paid jobs and the government is making raising achievement in basic numeracy a key focus.
