Who is Numicon for?

Numicon is a quality first teaching approach designed to give children the understanding of number ideas and number relationships that is essential for success in maths. We use a series of structured patterns - Numicon shapes - to represent numbers, as part of a progressive teaching programme.

There are over 6,000 schools in UK already using Numicon for teaching numeracy. As a research based programme Numicon is respected by many educators and the independent evidence base is growing.

Please refer to the box on the right of the page that is most applicable to you and follow the link for full details and advice...

As well as providing information and support for schools, we also have information for Local Authorities and Independent Consultants on how you can get involved in this truly inspirational approach to teaching maths.

Our core resources cover National Curriculum Level 1- 3 and our SEN resource, Closing the Gap is suitable for children working within the P-Levels.

Children really enjoy working with Numicon, which should be used as part of their maths work. The resources can be used for whole class primary maths teaching, small groups and for individual support.
