Firm Foundations Kit
Suitable for pupils working at P level 4 to National Curriculum level 1B. This stage is designed for all early years settings however, it is important for all children to be given the opportunity to
explore and experiment with the Shapes on first meeting them. The Foundation stage gives lots of practical ideas for helping children to develop understanding of numbers and number relationships. Children find the colourful Numicon Shapes attractive. The easy-to-follow Teaching Programme is set out on clearly illustrated Activity Cards which help children to learn the colours and patterns of Numicon, recognise and order numerals and their values, and begin practical addition and subtraction up to 10.
Ideas for assessment plus a Planning Chart are included in the Binder and are linked to the new Early Learning Goals for September 2008. Firm Foundations Kit printed materials can be ordered separately to update the original Foundation Kit.
