As parents, whether or not we did well in maths at school, we want our children to do well... but sometimes we are not sure how to help! That is why we have written the First Steps with Numicon – At Home Kit. The Kit provides parents and carers of pre-school children (3–5) with a series of clearly illustrated activities and games which introduce early ideas about number and arithmetic.
Many schools find that new parents are keen to help prepare their children for school. 1st Steps with Numicon - At Home Kit, is designed for parents to help children with maths during the Foundation Stage and early Key Stage 1, and offers parents a series of fun and easy to play activities to encourage understanding about early number and arithmetic. The introduction to the Book of Activities explains the important maths concepts which underpin the fun and simple-to-follow activities. Important maths vocabulary that children need to use and understand is also included in the book.
