Numicon Kit 2
Numicon Kit 2 builds on skills established in Foundation and Kit 1, continuing with the use of Numicon Shapes and Number Rods (to use with Rod Trays included in the Kit). Please note that Number Rods are not included since so many schools already have these, however if you do need to order them they are available separately, see page 18 of the catalogue.
The Kit 2 teaching materials are organised into a ring binder containing the Kit 2 Teaching Guide explaining the key mathematical ideas covered in the Kit, 42 clearly illustrated activity cards, assessment tools and photocopy masters. Also in the binder is a Card Summary and suggested Order for Teaching the Activities designed to support teachers’ planning. Kit 2 is now supplied packed in a deep, durable storage tray.
The teaching programme builds on the ideas met in Numicon Kit 1 to develop further mental arithmetic strategies in ± to 100; place value; multiplication; division; and fractions. Suitable for pupils working at National Curriculum levels 2 and 3.
