Software for Interactive Whiteboards
Numicon Shapes and Number Rods can be manipulated on screen to give a visual image of arithmetic operations and mental arithmetic strategies. Numicon Shapes are used with Number Lines, Number Tracks, Hundred Squares and other models to help pupils make connections in problem solving and to understand the properties of arithmetic operations like inverse and commutativity.
The software provides different Number Lines, objects for counting, coins, number generators, hoops to use in sorting, division and fractions and more. The pictures of various everyday objects can be used to illustrate word problems to help children use and apply their arithmetic.
We strongly recommend that the multi-sensory approach is maintained by giving each pupil a set of 1-10 Numicon Shapes which they can hold up in response to questions, or boxes of 80
Numicon Shapes are available.
