Single-user Firm Foundations Kit
Suitable for pupils working at P level 4 to National Curriculum level 1B. In a series of multi-sensory games and activities pupils are taught the colours and patterns of Numicon, to order the Numicon Shapes and to learn their number values. They move on to ordering numerals and shapes together and then begin practical addition and subtraction within 10. The teachers’ book explains the key mathematical ideas and the difficulties that pupils face in maths. The teaching activities are clearly illustrated and described step by step, these should be taught in the order shown and broken down into smaller steps as necessary for the learner. Ideas are given on each card for encouraging pupils to make connections between the mathematical ideas and real life experiences.
