Transforming children's lives: Become an Accredited Numicon Consultant
Numicon professional development ensures that Numicon is used to its best advantage, releasing its potential to transform children's attitude to maths and significantly increase their achievement. We have significantly increased the number of Numicon Consultants over the past 12 months but are still looking to expand our quality assured PD in some areas of the UK. Demand is growing, and comes from a range of Numicon users including Local Authority support teams; Mathematics consultants; schools seeking training for both teachers and teaching assistants and charities supporting children with special needs.
Our team of enthusiastic, accredited consultants deliver interactive PD, giving direct experience of Numicon activities and insight into the underpinning theory. Workshops gives teachers a chance to reflect on their pedagogy, and supports them in processing new and challenging ideas. Our professional development aims to ensure that teachers feel inspired, confident and keen to start using Numicon straight away whether in the classroom, in support groups or one-to-one.
PD is primarily delivered in whole of half day workshops. If twilight workshops are required this will need to be over two two hour sessions to cover the content of the half-day training workshop. Workshops are for a maximum of 30 - as professional development is most effective where participants can have hands on experience of some of the Numicon activities.
There are two stages to becoming an accredited Numicon consultant:
- Application and selection
- Completion of Numicon Training for Trainers course and full accreditation
If you feel inspired to join our team of consultants, please get in touch with us at primary.training.uk@oup.com or call us on 01865 353735, as we would like to hear from you!
