How does the resource work
The Numicon Homework Activities are designed for schools to enable children to practice at home what they are learning in school through playful activities and games, which means that parents and carers are not expected to ‘teach’ their children.
The activities and games will help children to develop their skills in the following areas: counting, knowledge of addition and subtraction facts, understanding of place value, and recognition of the inverse relation between addition and subtraction.
The Numicon Homework Activities are simple for schools to administer with comprehensive guidance for teachers. The games and activities are supplied on a CD for teachers to print out and give to children to take home along with the relevant Numicon resources required to complete the activities. The instructions are clear and easy to follow for all parents, including those whose first language may not be English.
What is included
A CD of resources including the 43 activities linked to what the children are learning in school; advice for teachers; feedback sheets to be completed at home by the children and parents; record sheets for teachers and explanatory information for parents including a pdf presentation for schools to show parents introducing the resources.
Homework 'Maths Bags'
One set of Numicon Multi-sensory resources is required per child to play the games and activities. These need to purchased separately in bundles of 5 bags, the total number of bags required will depend on how the schools intends to use this resources. Children will take the maths bag home, along with the Homework Games. Each maths bag contains the following resources:
