Special Needs specific accessories
These accessories have been developed specifically for use with pupils who may find colour a distraction in particular those children who have ASD (Autistic Spectrum Disorder).

Cuisenaire Number Rods and Accessories
Number Rods offer pupils another structured image that can enrich number understanding. We suggest that Number Rods are used alongside Numicon Maths Shapes throughout the Teaching Programme. Number Rods feature in Kit 1 and Kit 2, and in the Foundation Stage they can be used in pattern and picture making, ordering and practical arithmetic activities. The possible values of Number Rods are seen when they are placed in relation to each other.

Numicon Number Lines
The Numicon Number Lines are integral to the Teaching Activities and help to raise the profile of numbers in the classroom, giving pupils and teachers a mathematical context for learning and teaching about number relationships, counting and arithmetic.

Picture and Pattern Making
Independent building and picture making with Numicon Maths Shapes familiarises children with the Shapes and colours. In their play children are seeing and using the number relationships
represented by Numicon patterns. Making patterns and sequences helps children to develop all-important skills of sequencing and prediction. Children also enjoy building patterns with Number Rods in the plastic Rod Trays.

Arithmetic Practice
At each stage pupils enjoy repeating Numicon games and activities independently, in doing so they often make new discoveries. Repetition and practice helps them to learn number
facts and builds their confidence.

Printed Teaching Materials
The Teaching Guides and Teaching Activity Cards for all our Kits are available separately, particularly useful where two classes are sharing a Kit as these items should not be photocopied. Also to replace lost or damaged items.
